We are seeking for an practiced leader/manager to join our team in the Hawke’s Bay/Tair?whiti Ministry Area as Business Support Manager. The person will support the Area’s Director of Education and will manage a range of operational functions and undertake business improvement and performance activities. The function will include corporate service activities such as business planning, budgeting, and operational reporting. The Business Support Manager will report directly to the Director of Education and will have strong connections to staff across this Ministry area, as well as with staff in the Ministry’s National Office. The position will have 9 direct reports, for whom the Business Support Manager will have people management responsibilities. This position requires a strong customer focus, with an capability to balance the needs and priorities of different groups and initiatives. You will also offer strong stakeholder and relationship management expertise across the education sector, agencies, community, and iwi groups. A drive for results and achievement is also necessary both in the day-to-day operations of the area, as well as in identifying and progressively improving activities and services in the Area, and nationwide in conjunction with the Ministry’s National Office. You will also offer an knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry of Education. This is a permanent full-time appointment; location can be located in either our Gisborne or Napier office.
