Director Of CampaignsJob location:Wellington Wellington Central Work Type: Permanent » » » »$130-140k income »5 week annual leave + other work benefits »Permanent position in the public sector The function The function of the Director of Campaigns is to lead and over-see the strategic direction, design, development and implementation of campaigns that engage members in winning results that reflect their priorities. The Director of Campaigns leads a large team of staff with professional, industrial and organising skills. You lead and support staff to develop and devise campaigns that include member participation, bargaining, public, digital, communications, political and legal strategies. A significant part of the function is ensuring alignment of campaigns with organising strategies to grow membership and member activism and leadership abilities. Responsibilities • Oversight of the planning and re-negotiation of collective agreements, ensuring their integration into wider campaign strategies as appropriate • Coordinate and prioritise campaigns on a national level • Ensure campaign strategies and campaign resources are understood, embedded and accessible across the union • Ensure campaign leads, sector leads, project teams and campaign pool staff contribute to the prosperous development and delivery of campaign plans • Set and deliver on campaign budgets and other resourcing • Hire and manage campaign pool staff, including direct line management of campaign and sector strategic lead functions To be prosperous • Proven skills and practice in designing and implementing prosperous comprehensive campaigns • An knowledge of, and commitment to, the principles of empowering people and union organising • practice in managing, mentoring and developing staff • Project management, monitoring and evaluation skills • High level of capability and practice in converting strategic analysis and planning into campaigns on the ground • A strong knowledge of the opportunities of digital organising in the campaign space.
