In this Social Worker function, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team located out of Southland Hospital, working in a case management capacity to deliver a supportive service to our clients. You’ll work autonomously but will be well embedded in a team of equally dedicated mental health professionals. The Social Worker will work towards improving the health status of consumers in the Pacific Island community and reduce health inequalities by providing a best practice holistic service. Information technology is important to have an knowledge of Pasifika models of care. The Social Worker will provide interventions which are recovery focused, safe, culturally and clinically appropriate within SDHB Maori Health and Pacific Island Services and SDHB Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Discapability Services. You will bring demonstrated resilience, critical thinking and problem solving expertise, along with well developed written and verbal communication expertise. We are seeking for a highly motivated Social Worker with a passion for and knowledge of Pacific Island culture. You must have the capability to work in a culturally acceptable manner and collaboratively with the Pacific Island Community and work alongside other hospital services including SDHB Mental Health Addictions and Intellectual Discapability Services to ensure cultural aspects are recognised, acknowledged and incorporated into all assessments and interventions. Essential criteria To be prosperous in this function you will have community and / or recent acute inpatient practice, proven leadership abilities and the capability to meet the demands of a busy workload to a high standard. Information technology is important to have an knowledge of Pasifika models of care, Pacific languages and Pacific values. Please note this function is also open to new graduates, so if you have a passion for mental health and Pasifika we encourage you to apply. You will also hold a strong sense of ‘self’, a positive ‘can do’ attitude and a commitment to working cohesively in a multidisciplinary team environment. You should be a New Zealand Registered Social Worker, with current APC and hold a full NZ driver’s licence.
