Digital Accessibility Specialist

As the lead agency for Accessibility a key task for the Ministry is to ensure that everyone, including disabled people, can access and engage with MSD [digital] resources and services, whether this is online content such as web pages, downloadable documents, video and voice calling, or digital services through web and mobile-located applications. This includes ensuring that our clients, partners, and staff can access the information and services how and when they need them.
Given the importance of this, the existing Digital Accessibility team is growing and is seeking Digital Accessibility Specialists who will play a key function in driving accessibility innovation across our range of products and services.
Our Digital Accessibility teams' work centres around ensuring all New Zealanders can access our products and services to help improve their lives. The team helps both MSD People and our Clients and Partners with improved technology solutions that are accessible and ultimately improve the wellbeing of New Zealand's vulnerable citizens.
You will need to have
   » Excellent knowledge of and practice using the New Zealand Government Web Standards, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 to Level AA, the Accessibility Charter, and what is needed to implement them in a digital setting.
   » Excellent practice with Assistive Technologies
   » Strong practice in technology, web design, and development, including HTML and CSS, and user interface practice
   » practice in planning and management using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles
   » practice in multiple hardware and software environments and be comfortable with complex system designs
   » significant practice testing for Web Standards compliance and auditing
   » Excellent communication expertise, including the capability to guide, negotiate and build consensus across multi-disciplinary agile team environments and vendors
   » Strong practice in documentation of work in Plain Language
   » Relevance practice in training staff
   » practice with uscapability testing (user testing)
   » knowledge of various operating systems and mobile devices
   » knowledge of compliance frameworks
   » knowledge of user practice (UX) tools and frameworks

income range: $99,822.00 – $121,116.00
