This is a significant appointment for us and will complete the establishment of a new 2DHB Executive leadership abilities Team charged with measuring, monitoring and improving performance. Hutt Valley and Capital & Coast District Health Boards provide hospital and healthcare services for the people of the greater Wellington, K?piti and Hutt regions. The DHBs work together to plan and deliver primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare services for a diverse and growing population of approximately 450,000 people in this sub regional context and to approximately 900,000 people in a broader regional/ tertiary context. We know that by taking this collaborative approach, we can deliver better health results for our communities. We aspire to bring a dynamic and committed medical leader into our executive team who will make a significant contribution to the continuing development of our two organisations. Patients, wh?nau, and communities are at the heart of all the work we do. Collectively known as 2DHB, the two district health boards are at the heart of meeting and improving the health results for all the constituent populations of both DHBs in the region, with a particular strategic goal on achieving Maori Health equity and results and improving health and equity results for Pacific Peoples and the discapability community. Reporting to the 2DHB Chief Executive, the Chief Medical agent 2DHB provides professional leadership abilities for and development of the medical body across both HVDHB and CCDHB. The position also plays a critical function in supporting effective clinical governance and ensuring that patient safety and quality are at the forefront of care delivery. The Chief Medical agent 2DHB is expected to work from both HVDHB and CCDHB. To be prosperous in this position, you will have: - A strong knowledge of, and a commitment to applying the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and acknowledgement of equity in every aspect of the health system - A medical vocational registration and membership of a significant professional body - Significant medical practice with a track record of strategic leadership abilities at a senior management and executive level in large complex organisations - Political acumen, and the proven capability to build relationships with people at all levels from different backgrounds - Excellent stakeholder engagement expertise that allow you to effectively engage and advise senior leadership abilities and crucial stakeholders on medical best practice in a changing and challenging environment - Excellent people management expertise with a background of leading, supporting and inspiring teams - High level of strategic capcapability and capability to maintain a clear focus on long term goals - Comprehensive knowledge of a DHB environment, its strategic priorities, strengths and weaknesses - practice of leading and implementing significant change to systems, processes and people - practice in introducing innovation, service development initiatives and leadership abilities for improvement across the health system - Full NZ Driver's licence This is a rare and exciting opportunity where you can make a real difference for New Zealanders.
