Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $19.6 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day.
Our vision for school property is that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio that helps deliver equitable and excellent results for every child.
The Infrastructure Procurement team deliver procurement activities for Ministry led school construction projects across New Zealand, these projects equate to $300m (approx) in construction spend per year. The projects include new schools, school rebuilds, major/minor redevelopments, covering roll growth needs, weather-tightness remediation, structural strengthening and minor works.
About the function
The Procurement Coordinator function is responsible for providing day to day operational and administrative support to the procurement team in the region.
Your key priorities will include:
   » Operational/procurement support to the team including supporting the ‘end to end’ delivery of scheduled procurement activities
   » Periodic reporting against key procurement information
   » Ensuring that all appropriate processes, procedures, standards and guidelines are adhered to and adapted as necessary
   » Reviewing and coordinating procurement documentation (procurement plans, evaluation plans and recommendations) for approval and, ensuring all significant final versions of documents are collected and stored appropriately
   » Providing administrative support to use of the Ministry’s contract management tool
About you
You will have proven practice providing support to busy projects and ideally procurement teams, and strong Microsoft Office expertise with the capability to manipulate data in Excel spreadsheets. A ‘can do’ attitude is important and practice in the public sector and/or the construction industry would be advantageous.
