Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $19.6 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day.

About the function
As a member of the EIS Assurance team, you will support the Assurance Services’ Manager to deliver an annual programme of assurance activities that span the entire strategic and operational activities of EIS. You will bring a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the group’s key risk management, control and governance processes. You will provide EIS with capcapability for the performance of reviews to ensure that EIS’ delivery against Ministry strategic objectives is performed while complying with statutory, contractual and Ministry policy and procedural obligations.
Additionally, you will advise EIS Management of pragmatic improvement opportunities to further increase/improve business process maturity and/or improve performance.
Your key priorities will include the performance of reviews, the provision of advice and recommendations to the EIS Managers and other stakeholders to:
   » identify business and operational improvement opportunities from inefficient/ineffective processes and procedures
   » identify improvement opportunities arising from legislative or contractual noncompliance
   » recommend preventative processes that allow avoidance of incidents and cost connected with incident management and follow-up.
About you
With proven practice in an assurance or consulting environment, you will have a tertiary qualification and a passion for providing commercial insights and learning about what makes an organisation tick. You will be a strategic thinker and can apply sound methodologies to your work. A self-starter, you will be highly motivated and enjoy working as part of a professional and commercially focused team. Excellent communication expertise are a must and you will be adept at building strong key stakeholder relationships; constructively challenging established beliefs whilst providing solutions to your internal customers.
You will also offer:
   » balanced intelligence (IQ and EQ), capable of working in a fast-paced, group environment
   » a high level of knowledge of contemporary assurance or compliance processes and practices, and of risk management processes.
