SCAPE Public Art installs public art in ?tautahi Christchurch all year round. Over the past 23 years we have become the largest producer of new contemporary public artwork in Aotearoa New Zealand. These artworks provide a unique point of difference for the city. Ambitious and high impact, they enhance the urban centre and raise the profile for public art in ?tautahi Christchurch.This November we have collaborated with Tent, New Zealand's newest art event - a long weekend of pop-up exhibitions and art events all around the country.
SCAPE Public Art will be showingHeather Straka'sphotographic series, Isolation Hotel, Age of Discovery exhibition. We are seeking for a Gallery adjunct (short term contract), to be the primary interface and interpretation for SCAPE Public Art and Tent'spop-up exhibition at Hotel Montreal forartworks to visitors, manage sales of artworks and the efficient function and management of the pop-up gallery. The function will be located at 363 Montreal Street for the following hours this November:
   » 3 - 8pm, Thursday 4th, training & preview
   » 10am - 5pm, Friday 5th - Saturday 6th,
   » 10am - 4pm, Sunday 7th
1?.Key Accountabilities
   » Be the key port of contact for guests & visitors to the exhibition
   » Provide inspirational knowledge the exhibition and artist Heather Straka
   » Provide professional and informed key messages, knowledge and purpose of the relationship between SCAPE Public Art, TENT and Hotel Montreal
   » Assist with artist talk and opening
   » Promote and participate in the sale of the photographic artwork editions
   » Manage the pop-up exhibition, during the allocated opening hours
   » Perform sales administration functions such as cash handling, transactions, answering phones
   » Record and confirm attendance numbers at evening events and opening weekends
   » Maintain and build working relationships both internally and externally at all levels
   » Problem-solve event changes, which may occur from time to time
   » Administration - process sales, manage stock, packaging and delivery of artworks
   » Health & Safety compliance - adhere to the Health & Safety Systems and Procedures of the organisation and any other external party as required
   » Implement systems and processes to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Gallery adjunct's function
   » Other tasks as assigned
   » Post exhibition sales/gallery adjunct de-briefing and reporting
2. Qualifications, practice and expertise sought:
   » Proven sales practice - preferably working in the cultural, art, or heritage sectors; hospitality; tourism; or other customer service environment
   » Demonstrated commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service
   » Demonstrated capability to work prosperously as part of a team environment, and to interact with a diverse range of people
   » Good level of verbal communication expertise demonstrated by the capability to listen, question and give significant, accurate information
   » Computer literacy - be confident using MS Word, the internet, and online payment and booking systems
   » Demonstrated knowledge and knowledge of SCAPE Public Art
   » significant art qualification, BA or BFA (Essential)
3. Technical expertise
   » Highly computer literate - Microsoft Office suite (Essential), capability to manage sales sheets and budgets
   » Numerate with capability to work within budgets and artwork commissions
   » Strong written and verbal communication expertise (Essential)
   » Strong relationship management expertise (Essential)
   » capability to plan and co-ordinate workload, delegating effectively (Essential)
