Job Opportunity: Teaching Fellow – K?hatu Centre for Hauora M?ori:UniofOtagoJob description:Job DescriptionK?HATU CENTRE for HAUORA M?ORIDIVISION of HEALTH SCIENCES About the Department K?hatu Centre for Hauora M?ori is positioned within the Division of Health Sciences. K?hatu is growing and its functions and activities includes teaching of Hauora M?ori across all years of the Otago Medical School programme in Dunedin, and delivering a new Hauora M?ori curriculum within the Faculty of Dentistry. K?hatu further teaches papers in the M?ori Health Major of the Bachelor of Health Science and a new postgraduate M?ori Health paper. K?hatu is also home to the M?ori Health Workforce Development Unit and other strategic, teaching and research functions. The function This Teaching Fellow position is involved in a wide-range of teaching activity and is responsible for supporting teaching into the Bachelor of Health Science (undergraduate and postgraduate) M?ori health papers, and the Hauora M?ori curriculum delivered in the medical and dental health professional programmes and other undergraduate health professional curricula. The Hauora M?ori curriculum was developed to give the Health Science undergraduate professional programme students expertise, expertise and competency to work effectively with M?ori and to have expertise in life-long learning of Hauora M?ori. This position will work as a part of a Hauora M?ori team that includes; the Director of K?hatu / Professor for M?ori Health, alongside a team of lecturing, professional practice fellow and administrative staff. this function will have a particular focus on support for the running of the Hauora M?ori teaching in the BHeal Sci alongside the development of resources for use across curriculum years and the building and maintenance of relationships connected with Hauora M?ori teaching. Your expertise and practice We are seeking for candidates with the following attributes: » significant tertiary qualification. » Proficiency in te reo M?ori me ?na tikanga. » An interest in M?ori health advancement. » A capacity to work within the context of M?ori values including manaakitanga, whakawhanaungatanga and mana tangata Sound academic expertise including academic writing and referencing. » practice with M?ori tauira and a capacity to engage with students and staff. » Excellent people expertise. A background in health and / or education is preferred. We are also looking for commitment to M?ori Development and the University’s M?ori Strategic Framework, as well as genuine interest in Hauora M?ori teaching and research.
