About us:
Our public service is being called upon to deliver a unified, seamless and effective digital practice for all New Zealanders. As a member of Digital Public Service/Te K?tui Whitiwhiti branch you will help champion this change. We are pursuing practiced professionals with vision and influence to help drive a strong, prosperous and connected digital public sector.
The Digital Public Service Branch works across the public service to connect, influence and support the system to take advantage of new digital opportunities. Information technology also supports the Government Chief Digital agent (GCDO) to drive the government's digital transformation and position government to succeed in a changing and evolving digital age.
The Branch has recently redefined its purpose and reorganised itself to deliver on the expectations of the government's Strategy for a Digital Public Service.
Strategy for a Digital Public Service
About the function:
We have two strategic advisor opportunities (one permanent and one fixed term till Aug 2022) to come join us. In this pivotal function you will work as part of a part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on whole of government digital strategies and initiatives. You will provide strategic high-quality advice, guidance and insights into how we can modernise the public service to meet the demands of operating in this ever-changing digital landscape.
You will be strongly supported in an environment that values continuous improvement and fosters a culture of encouraging ?big picture? thinking to help our people connect and strive towards excellence.
What will you bring to the function?
You will bring a collaborative style to your work with the confidence to manage relationships at all levels while being able to create new connections to positively achieve multiple results. You will have the capability to navigate complex situations with ease and bring demonstrated capability to work at pace to deliver smart solutions and recommendation to time critical requests.
The scope of the function includes;
   » Opportunity to influence results by contributing to a range of ambitious innovation projects and work programmes within the public sector in the digital space
   » Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, and agency submissions on complex issues
   » Bring sound conceptual and analytical expertise by providing recommendations, analysis and improvements to achieve results and deliver value
   » Exemplary written and oral communication expertise with demonstrated practice in developing concise, arcuate and audience appropriate briefs and reports
   » Excellent time management expertise, including an capability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
   » capability to drive a consistent and coordinated approach to stakeholder engagement and fostering ownership with a strong knowledge of inter-agency processes
   » Identifying trends and emerging issues and opportunities and significant industry practices and standards
   » Provide evidence and information to support strategic and operational decision making and support capcapability uplift
   » Maintain an knowledge of customer and stakeholder priorities and challenges, negotiate and influence results to manage issues to best practice.
