Perehipitiri?na ?whina – Presbyterian Support Northern (PSN) is one of NZ's largest not-for-profit service providers that provides social and health and discapability services for New Zealand's most vulnerable people, including victims of family violence, tamariki and wh?nau, older people, and those with disabilities and injuries. Operating across the upper North Island, their vision is ?A better life for everyone', which means they are there for wh?nau and communities, with the goal of transforming generations.
PSN is the parent organisation for some of New Zealand's well-known Support Services and has four main service delivery divisions, including:
 
   »Enliven – provides home and community-located support for older and disabled
   »Shine – provides a range of crisis and programme services to help victims of domestic violence become safe, and perpetrators to change their behaviour.
   »Lifeline – provides a 24/7 helpline for people experiencing distress, together with services to businesses and communities to upskill, support and activate community connection.
   »Family Works – provides social work and counselling support to tamariki and wh?nau, particularly in the school setting, around family violence and wh?nau resilience.
 
Te ?hua o Te T?runga – The nature of the position.
 
The GM Engagement is a critical partner to the CEO and leadership abilities Team in the transformation of PSN's culture, profile, and people. Positioned at the executive table, you will be a key contributor involved in all aspects of PSN's strategy and operations. The function will work across PSN's network of services, and coach the General Managers and their teams to translate values into action, build leadership abilities capabilities and honour the professionalism and dedication of all staff – so that PSN can continue ?to be there for wh?nau and communities when they need us'.
 
The intent of this position is to provide strategic oversight to all organisational functions that relate to engaging with people. This means a focus across internal and external functions, actively supported by specialist managers across these functions. Taking the lead function empowering these managers and their teams, you will be mentoring both teams and individuals to deliver high quality support services for staff and managers.
 
Designing and implementing a stakeholder plan to lift strategic engagement and profile externally, you will be charged with maintaining a strong external network, especially with government and key sector stakeholders. Additionally, you will take a proactive stance in the development of opportunities for the organisation to have a ?voice' on issues relating to key mahi.
 
Leading with authenticity and mana, you will be fostering a one team approach that lines up with PSN's Vision, Mission and Values, that are premised on a faith-located approach and a commitment to tangata whenua. Working with practiced senior leaders in the People & Culture, Health & Safety, and Comms & Marketing teams, your own leadership abilities style will foster and grow them and their teams. You will be a champion for flexibility, inclusion, staff safety and wellbeing – and your decision making will be values-led. Providing strategic oversight in the development and execution of People and Culture strategies, will see you providing support to the leadership abilities team on people-related matters, and providing advice and mentoring to leaders within the organisation.
 
A key part of the function is working alongside the Pou ?rahi to develop and implement te ao M?ori frameworks. Your knowledge of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi will be evidenced through your past examples of working in partnership with tangata whenua.
 
Significant practice working at a senior level in an organisational change or strategic comms function, with significant tertiary qualifications is required. In addition, a high degree of comfort in presenting publicly to Ministers, senior officials and media is sought.

   » Exceptional communication and interpersonal expertise and practice communicating with Boards and senior Executives.
   » High levels of self-motivation, be self-confident and self-directing.
   » Can demonstrate working within constructive partnerships with peers by presenting clear and convincing rationale for ideas and changes.
   » Excellent interpersonal and relationship building expertise, with the capability to influence and enable.
   » The practice to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders through trust, advocacy, and collaboration, with expertise in the management of complex sets of relationships with tact and diplomacy.
   » Excellent communication expertise and strong interpersonal expertise including a demonstrated capability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
   » Humility, and the natural capcapability to uplift the mana of others.
 
Knowledge and practice working in the New Zealand not-for-profit sector is highly advantageous as is your capability to demonstrate Te Tiriti in action.
