First and foremost the Sales and Marketing Manager function is accountable for meeting the organisation-wide sales targets as agreed in the annual budget. For 2023 this is c. $5.5m from ticket sales, hospitality, education and outreach (not including sponsorship, donations and grants). The function will continuously develop and implement a proactive strategic marketing plan for The Court Theatre along with product marketing plans, to ensure we are growing our audiences and meeting budgets. Relationship building underpins all of our sales at The Court, so you will be keen to get to know our customers, and discover where new customers are, and how you can bring them to practice the best theatre in Aotearoa. You will be the sort of person who sees the opportunities, and works creatively to get the job done. You won't be put off by a challenging market place, or the continuing Covid context, but look for ways for our audiences to actively engage with us. And you will love data, trends, analysis and understand buyer behaviour. Job responsibilities: » Planning and implementing sales and marketing plans, consistent with the marketing strategy, meeting project, monthly and annual sales targets. » Continuously developing and implementing a proactive strategic marketing and communications plan. » Leading, designing and implementing processes, channels and initiatives that will positively manage the profile and reputation of The Court with all its stakeholders (internal and external). » Working proactively with the leadership abilities Kaitiaki Team to ensure the portfolio performs and works collegially. » Be proactive in communications and with media, safeguarding our reputation, but clearly giving information that will enhance our mission. » Leading and managing the team to ensure marketing, sales, comms, PR, writing and publications, are the best they can be. » Continually improving The Court's social media presence, seeking out opportunities to reach wide ranging audiences and stakeholders. What you will need: » At least five years' practice in sales and marketing functions with evidence of prosperous results. » A collaborative, proactive and engaging style, with demonstrated capability to influence with credibility. » A client-centric relationship management style that understands the importance of retaining customers as well as reaching new customers. » Evidence of having built and/or significantly enhanced a brand. » The capability to immediately identify the right strategies to effectively target communications. » A can-do and flexible attitude. » A degree or higher qualification in marketing or related area, ideally with an emphasis on buyer behaviour, analysis, trends, data. » Evidence of continuing learning. advantages: » Contribute to an iconic organisation that delivers exceptional theatre to audiences and the community. » Join a team of highly skilled people who are resilient and flexible learners. » An organisation with a promising looking future, and a new home under development in the city. this function does not require an employment background in the arts, but empathy, passion and excitement for what The Court does is important. About the Employer : Currently hidden in Christchurch's suburb of Addington is New Zealand's largest theatre company. In its post-earthquake refuge ?The Shed? - an old grain shed - there is a magical world of happiness, laughter, drama and intrigue. Inside the walls of ?The Shed? is a diverse and dynamic company of 60 permanent staff plus hundreds of artists and artisans who produce some 19 productions each year. Over 150,000 ticket buyers enter The Court each year to feast on the varied offering of theatrical works, created and produced on-site.
