About our group and team
Our aim is to put children and young people at the heart of the education system and encourage all New Zealanders to participate in lifelong learning. The Sector Enablement and Support Group (SE&S) is the key interface between the Ministry and early learning schools and kura services me ng? k?hanga reo, education providers, and communities.
About this function
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly practiced professional to join our national SE&S group. You will play a key function in giving effect to change that impacts all learners.
More specifically, you will:
   » lead the collaborative development and iteration of strategy in alignment with the Ministry’s vision and priorities
   » articulate the integration of SE &S strategy with the Ministry’s vision and priorities, policy and the Education Work Programme in collaboration with regional leaders, to provide clarity of purpose and direction for all stakeholders
   » be accountable for the translation of policy decisions into collaborative, coherent, fit-for-purpose service design, ensuring implementation by regional leads that is well supported at the national level
   » lead the planning and implementation of new initiatives and strategies developed by the Ministry into SE&S
   » provide advice and support across the Ministry in relation to sector consultation ensuring policy can be informed by front line practice.
About you
Your background should include senior leader practice in the public sector and the capability to demonstrate the following:
   » Strategic thinking and leadership abilities, utilising fit for purpose frameworks
   » practice of leading and motivating a high performing team with specialist and management capabilities
   » Sound knowledge of the machinery of government, public sector delivery structures and systems
   » Sound judgment, as well as evidence-located decision making and intervention logic
   » Advanced influencing, relationship management and stakeholder engagement expertise
   » knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry
