What you will do
You will support the Senior Advisor Heritage, Commemorations and Protocol programmes primarily through research. This is a truly varied function working with a team of passionate and very talented individuals who between them have an immense expertise base.
You will focus mainly on aspects in the planning, developing, co-ordinating and implementing of heritage programmes and policy.
This is a really good opportunity for a person wanting to move into the public sector, as you will contact and network across a range of different groups not only within NZDF, but across the wider state sector agencies within New Zealand and overseas counterparts.
Please note: The formal title for this function within NZDF is Advisor Heritage, Commemorations and Protocol Programmes.
What we need
We are pursuing a person with a strong interest in NZ military history. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven capability in researching material, analysing and providing practical recommendations.
You will also have:
   » Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;
   » A drive for learning and applying new expertise;
   » The capability to deal with multiple stakeholders; and
   » A significant tertiary qualification (ideally).
Who we are
The Heritage, Commemorations and Protocol (HCP) Group is the Chief of Defence Force's principal policy advisor on NZDF's military and tikanga M?ori ceremonial protocols, its heritage and medallic recognition. The group are the planning and delivery lead for the organisation of New Zealand's overseas military commemorations and NZDF support to state and national occasions and organisational lead for CDF-hosted senior military visits and specified activities.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Higher level Security Clearance
   » most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years , OR
   » is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years : either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitcapability for a security clearance at a higher level.
If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
