Are you an practiced and talented Principal Policy Advisor, looking for an opportunity to help shape the future of Aotearoa New Zealand’s constitutional and democratic systems?
Our work in the Policy Group is wide-ranging, with opportunities to shape thinking and drive change across the justice and social sectors. It’s also complex and challenging, with new tests of your critical thinking and relationship management expertise every day.
Our Principal Advisors have a subject domain leadership abilities position. They are responsible for supporting the overall capcapability of the team, providing authoritative advice and leading programmes of work and project teams on complex and sensitive areas.
Electoral and constitutional
Due to internal promotions, we have a permanent Principal Advisor position in our Electoral and Constitutional team. We are pursuing an practiced and insightful Principal Advisor, who values Ng? Ao M?ori approaches and brings practice of applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi to policy development and advice.
this function will involve working with the team to develop well-considered advice that:
   » supports the Crown to honour its responsibilities to M?ori
   » protects and maintains democracy for all New Zealanders
   » drives clear and accessible law on elections, privacy, and open government.
Independent Review of Electoral Law
We have a fixed-term or secondment position (through to December 2023) to support the Independent Review of Electoral Law. this function involves working with the independent panel appointed by the Minister of Justice to review our electoral law, to support public engagement, and help with the development of issues papers, discussion forums and drafting of panel reports (See: www.beehive.govt.nz/release/government-review-electoral-law)

   » Communication expertise – Excellent communication expertise, in particular able to explain complex issues in an accessible fashion, and ask questions to improve your knowledge?
   » Te ao M?ori – practice in working with iwi and M?ori organisations and designing, applying and advising on te ao M?ori and Te Tiriti-located frameworks for policy
