The Policy Implementation and Delivery (PID) – Investments Directorate brings value to our partnerships through direct investment, on the ground project support and connecting our partners to other opportunities and resources.
One of the key issues we hear from our partners is the difficulty in knowledge New Zealand’s investment landscape. With over 50+ major investment programmes across New Zealand that focus on environmental activities, finding the right grant programmes for their proposal can be a daunting challenge.
As the Lead for Investments, you will collaborate and build networks with a number of investment and partnership teams internally at the Ministry, as well as across other government, philanthropic and private organisations. You will be the lead practitioner or ?go-to’ person within the Ministry for knowledge what funding opportunities are best suited for our partners and helping these partners navigate the funding landscape. As a practitioner function, you’ll be heavily involved in both the doing and the guiding of how our teams work within their systems, frame messages, connect, communicate, and collaborate internally and externally.
The Lead for Investments will also play an important leadership abilities function in further building the Ministry’s investments operational performance. You’ll build system performance by leading programmes that enable knowledge transfer amongst investment agencies, and incorporate those learnings into future fund designs.
This is a tier 4 position, that reports to the Director for PID Investments. You will be part of the Senior leadership abilities Team that includes managers, principal analysts, and team leaders.

To be effective in this mahi, our ideal candidate will have the following skill sets:
   » broad practice in administering large environmental grant programmes, preferably with central government agencies
   » Significant relationship management practice with widely established networks - you are a connector who builds and maintains enduring relationships
   » Strong programme management skills, with the capability to coordinate all aspects of a programme from inception and delivery.
   » Proven capability to work effectively with various ministry teams, programme partners, and stakeholders at all levels on complex issues
   » practice partnering with tangata whenua on programmes, and commitment to developing your cultural capcapability and capacity in te ao M?ori
   » Strong systems thinking skills, able to quickly develop an knowledge of context in relation to the insights required and provide strategic advice
   » Proven capability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people at all levels, both internal and external to MfE and by using a variety of communication styles appropriate to the setting
   » Proven capability to represent your organisation and are recognised for your skills by other Government agencies or external stakeholders
   » knowledge of the machinery of government and political context - iwi, local government and central government, including the broader natural resource sector.
Wh?nuitanga Utu ?-Tau | income range
income range for this function is$114,872 to $139,510 pa.Appointment within this range will be located on skills and practice.
