About Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission
The team at TeAra Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission is on a mission to help New Zealanders retire with confidence. With a multigenerational approach we want to ensure people feel secure they’ll have resources and the know-how to make ends meet. You might know us for our award-winning sorted.org.nz website, but there’s much more to us than that.
We focus on three areas: Retirement Policies, Retirement Villages and Financial Capcapability. We advise Government on the policies to enhance retirement results for New Zealanders, including monitoring the framework for retirement villages. Together with a range of partners we help build financial wellbeing and contribute to a better knowledge of what retirement means in the 21st century.
We have just established our organisational values and are on a journey to integrate te ao M?ori and te reo into our internal and external mahi. About the function
The M?ori Communications Specialist reports to the Director, Stakeholder Relations, and will be part of a small team of communications and stakeholder specialists working across the different areas of Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission.
this function will have a close working relationship with the Kaihaut? and senior M?ori staff in the Te whai hua -kia ora! Sorted in Schools programme.
You will provide valuable communications support and skills to an interesting array of projects, marketing campaigns and other initiatives.
Using your practice and knowledge of tikanga M?ori and communications in a M?ori context, you will develop a variety of content including blogs, social media posts, website content, eDMs, corporate publications and media responses.
This is a highly collaborative function working across the organisation, identifying great story opportunities to pitch to media, as well as tailoring these ideas into content to be used across Te Ara Ahunga Ora and Sorted channels.
It requires a high level of agility, knowledge of the New Zealand media landscape, consumer motivations and needs, respect for the requirements of government accountcapability, and a passion for fostering a happy internal culture.

function specific skills and practice:
We are pursuingcandidates with:
   » Tertiary qualification in significant discipline (Communications, Public Relations, Marketing) or demonstrated practice
   » At least 1 – 5 years' practice in a communications, marcomms, or journalism function.
   » Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
   » practice with writing content for multiple channels targeted to a wide variety of audiences
   » Proficiency in Te Reo M?ori me ?na tikanga is desirable
   » Good knowledge of Te Ao M?ori - whakapapa, wh?nau, hapu, iwi
   » Demonstrated practice in co-ordinating and integrating communication planning within a workstream
   » Strong planning and organisational skills
   » Some CMS and CRM practice - preferably with Silverstripe and Hubspot
   » Demonstrated professionalism and strong work ethic, including maintaining confidentiality
