Reporting to the Head of Decorative Arts, ideally, you will have an knowledge across a variety of decorative art, in particular, Mid-century modern design, Maori and Oceanic artifacts, furniture, silver, clocks, rugs and ceramics You will be a pragmatic, self-motivated individual with sound organisational skills who will take initiative in this dynamic environment and wants to extend your current skill base within Decorative Arts. Expectations of the function responsibilities will include full preparation of Decorative Arts Auctions, written proposals for potential vendors, cataloguing collections and assisting with print and online publications. A professional attitude with the capability to meet deadlines and to prioritise work is a key focus. In addition, proven capability to produce exceptional written material with attention to detail is essential. candidates must have a comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand and International Art History and collectables. Essential Criteria » Auction industry practice highly desirable » Expert demonstrated knowledge of international decorative arts and collectables as specified above » Computer savvy » capability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbal and written » Highly organised and able to work under pressure » Excellent project management skills together with superior marketing acumen » Copywriting and the capability to write on artworks/collectable pieces » Exceptional personal presentation Due to the nature of our business, this function may require some weekend work therefore flexibility is required.
