About volunteering with VSA VSA is New Zealand’s largest and most practiced volunteering agency working in international development.We provide skilled Kiwi volunteers to support organisations in the Pacific and beyond through capacity building, both in country and virtually Our Partner Organisation –Development Services Exchange Development Services Exchange (DSE) is the national CSO/NGO umbrella body in the Solomon Islands. Information technology was established in 1984 to facilitate and coordinate development services for NGOs and their partners. Since Information technology was formed DSE has been working to create a vibrant and robust Civil Society Sector in Solomon Islands for over three decades. Currently DSE has a membership of over 65 Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). Their members include international NGOs working in Solomon Islands, local NGOs and community-located organisations. DSE's function includes running trainings for civil society organisations to build capacity on important aspects of their work, working with members to provide coordinated response to government bills, policies, etc., facilitating joint funding applications for projects and arranging industry networks. The Assignment In this assignment the VSA volunteer will support DSE with media and communication expertise. The volunteer will work with the organisation to assess its current media and communication strengths and work to build on these. The function will be varied and include support staff to develop press statements, organise information in database, working with staff to identify members who would benefit from training, and create online content.
