About our group and team Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $19.6 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day. Our vision for school property is that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio that helps deliver equitable and excellent results for every child. The Ministry of Education is standing up a new property team focussed on the asset and inventory management of its thousands of transportable classrooms. The work is data-driven and works closely with a wide variety of internal stakeholders. Transportable classrooms are used to meet a range of short-term and long-term needs, including roll growth, decanting and emergency response. The team will play an integral function in the overall prepa redness and resilience of our stock, and in enabling positive impacts on the learning practice of àkonga across Aotearoa. About this function The Asset Planner will work across the transportable classroom inventory, ensuring the readiness and suitcapability of emergency stock, and working closely with our colleagues and stakeholders to set up data-driven forward work plans for retiring and replacing older stock. This is a complex and sensitive area where targeted and achievable plans will be required to have had input from multiple stakeholders. The Planner may find themselves onsite assessing condition or commissioning detailed surveys, followed by planning the replacement of dozens of units in a single tranche. About you We are seeking for someone who is as comfortable with data as they are onsite. A combination of a logical and practical approach, detail-focus and creative problem solving will see you thrive in this function. Your asset management practice is located on solid knowledge of IIMM and NAMS protocols. We are a small central team working with colleagues across the country, so good communication, resilience, empathy and diplomacy will serve you well. You will be capable of managing your own workload/priorities, as well as being proactive with colleagues outside the immediate team. You will also offer the following: » An capability to visually condition assess our older units » Good business writing expertise for planning, proposals, practiccapability, and options analysis » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga The transportables space is in the early stages of its establishment within the Ministry – this gives the team a real opportunity to shape its own future and make maximum impact within the wider property group. With the unusual twist of buildings that move, plus emergency preparedness, this work is not standard asset management. Data will be constantly refreshed and solutions and options need to be updated, particularly for stock that could be mobilised into emergency situations. Are you ready to make a difference?
