About the group The Sector Enablement and Support Group (SE&S) is the key interface between the Ministry and schools, wharekura, education providers, and communities. Our teams around the country work closely with the Early Childhood and Schooling sectors, providers, and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential. We also directly provide Learning Support for around 40,000 children and young people. Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children, young people, their families and communities with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. Our work is challenging and very compensateing and this is a unique opportunity to work at a system level to strengthen the education system’s provision of support for communities and families of children and young people. About the function Reporting to the Team Leader – Community Partnerships, the Senior Advisor will lead and support the design, establishment, and delivery of the Ethnic Communities Learning Hubs (Learning Hubs) initiative within their region. These hubs support learner achievement through educationally powerful partnerships with ethnic communities’ wh?nau as they navigate the education system. The key priorities of this function are: » Supporting the co-design, establishment, and implementation of the Learning Hub initiative » Establishing effective, trusting relationships with ethnic and culturally diverse communities’ ensuring their voices and views are reflected in the development of the Learning Hubs » Contributing to the design and development of innovative, engaging communications approaches and material to support the Learning Hubs » Seeking opportunities to grow sector knowledge and capcapability to meet the needs of learners, parents and wh?nau from diverse ethnic, cultural, and faith-located communities » Supporting the Team Leader to monitor and report on the effectiveness of the Learning Hubs initiative » knowledge and applying the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga Are you ready to make a difference?
