The Parent Information Community Intelligence group designs and drives initiatives that support parents, wh?nau, hap?, iwi, employers, and communities (demand side groups) to positively influence our education system and help every New Zealander learn, progress and achieve.
Families are the most powerful influence on a child’s progression and achievement. Building powerful reciprocal partnerships between wh?nau, communities and educators will help raise aspirations and lift progress and achievement for all learners.
The Programme Delivery team co-design, prototype, implement and support the delivery of programmes that have a deliberate focus on localised curriculum and contextualised learning, identity, language and culture as core components particularly in the area of M?ori and Pacific learning, progress and achievement.
About this function
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly practiced professional to join our Programme Delivery team. We are seeking for a Lead Advisor, focused on literacy, to play a key function in the implementation of a range of literacy programmes aimed at supporting our parents and wh?nau to be powerful partners in Education.
More specifically, you will do the following:
   » Implement a range of literacy initiatives including Reading Together®, Early Reading Together® and Writers’ in Communities
   » Facilitate the design and implementation of effective programmes that are located on best literacy practices to enable parents and wh?nau to better support literacy in the home
   » Collaborate with colleagues in the Programme Delivery team to ensure integrated design, sequencing, and implementation of the work programme
   » Ensure the team has the appropriate guidance and capcapability to implement change by ensuring proactive community consultation and liaison
   » Provide advice and support on strategic decision making, prioritisation and operational improvement
About you
Your background should include practice and qualifications in the Education sector, preferably with ECE or Primary aged children.
You have the capability to demonstrate the following:
   » Good knowledge and practice of current literacy research
   » Effective literacy practice and knowledge in a New Zealand education context
   » practice working collaboratively and effectively with at least one of PICI focus groups to support their aspirations (learners, parents, wh?nau, hap?, iwi, M?ori, Pacific communities, business, industry, employers, disabled people, refugee and migrant communities)
   » Advanced influencing, relationship management and stakeholder engagement expertise
   » knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry
   » capability to quickly identify and mitigate risks and manage strategic linkages with internal and external initiatives
