Principal Advisor Kaupapa Inquiry

Waitangi Tribunal is carrying out a comprehensive programme of Kaupapa Inquiries. These deal with nationally significant issues affecting M?ori as a whole which will require a whole of New Zealand Government response. They include issues such as housing, health and discapability, mana w?hine, social services and social development.
MSD is taking part in several Inquiries which raise nationally significant issues affecting M?ori. We do this by participating, along with other agencies, in the Waitangi Tribunal's Kaupapa Inquiry process where we listen to the voice of claimants and provide evidence as a Crown agency.
About the function
We have an opportunity for a Principal Advisor to join our Kaupapa Inquiry Programme team to work on the Ministry's response to Kaupapa Inquiries. You will have the chance to lead and coordinate other teams across, work with other agencies, and contribute to tactical and strategic thinking in this area of work.
this function is highly collaborative, and you will need the confidence and proven capability to develop and manage relationships at all levels across your agency and with key stakeholders. You will demonstrate the capability to work at pace to deliver smart solutions to complex problems and provide pragmatic and effective advice.
You will need the passion, confidence, and capcapability to bring a kaupapa M?ori and te ao M?ori perspectives into this work as well as:
   » Amazing relationship management and communication expertise.
   » Sound judgment and the capability to gain credibility quickly and influence at all level.
   » practice in providing strategic advice and planning to senior management.
   » practice in developing and leading projects in critical areas of work.
   » Proven capability to work collaboratively and responsively in a high-profile sector.
   » Well-developed analytical expertise with the capability write well and provide robust advice and recommendations.
The function sits within the M?ori Partnerships and Programmes team of the Maori Community Partnerships Group. We work collaboratively across the Ministry and enjoy building effective relationships with a range of Crown agency stakeholders.
This work will assist your independence and leadership abilities while offering a collaborative, high energy work environment.

The M?ori, Communities and Partnerships group is responsible for building capcapability across the organisation to support the aspirations of M?ori, connecting and collaborating to build effective partnerships and community approaches that achieve better results for those who most need our support.
Within the M?ori Communities and Partnerships group, the M?ori Partnerships and Programmes team focuses on building strong and resilient communities utilising a range of avoidance and community development approaches which lead to sustainable and long-term results for wh?nau, communities and whole of populations.
Our authorising documents include Te Pae Tawhiti (our Ministry Statement of Intent) and Te Pae Tata (our M?ori Strategy and Action Plan.
