   » Research Fellow – Structural Earthquake Engineer
Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is a young and dynamic university that offers a stimulating teaching and research environment with strong connections to business and industry. located in New Zealand’s largest city, AUT has several campuses – in the heart of the city, on the North Shore, and in South Auckland. We now have a vacancy for a “Research Fellow -Structural Earthquake Engineer” to join the School of Future Environments. The function will assist in the development of novel fiction-sliding systems that are intended to make buildings more earthquake resilient. The work will include analytical, numerical and experimental research. The prosperous candidate must be able to work both independently and collaboratively with researchers and industry experts in the broader project team.
The project “Sustainable Earthquake Resilient Buildings for a Better Future” is funded by MBIE for a total period of 5 years and includes partners from other Universities and major engineering companies (both domestic and international).
The prosperous applicant should hold a PhD in structural and/or earthquake engineering and be able to demonstrate a strong track record in experimental research. Strong programming expertise, including competency with mathematical modelling and program development tools (FORTRAN, MATLAB, Python) are essential, together withpractice with other structural engineering software packages.
This is a 5-year, part-time (0.5FTE), fixed-term position with a preferred start date of July2023. The function will be located on the City Campus and the income level will be commensurate with the expertise and practice of the applicant.
