We are seeking for a Senior Manager to lead our International Engagement and Cooperation team. This opportunity is one of two international functions being recruited within the International Division and leads our work on international cooperation and engagement as Information technology relates to education. this function would suit Somebody with strong leadership abilities and public sector practice in international relations, including multi-lateral work. You’ll need exceptional relationship management expertise as you’ll be involved in top table discussions across government, with senior ministers, with diplomats and you’ll be representing NZ internationally. You’ll be a strategic, tactical thinker who can identify the opportunities and priorities in this space and lead a high performing team to achieve results. An important part of the function is an capability to be aware of and sensitive to diverse cultures and peoples, as you traverse policy advice impacting on international students in the New Zealand education context and offshore. Work the prosperous candidate will lead includes: » representing NZ’s interests with international counterparts in multilateral forums such as APEC and the OECD, and in bilateral government to government forums » identifying and maximising strategic opportunities for the Ministry and wider education sector to understand global education challenges and share innovation, best practice and information; and » managing Secretariat services and support for the UNESCO National Commission Management practice is ideal, but not essential – providing you have initiative, judgement and strong people expertise. Secondment applications are also welcome. In the function, you will also have the chance to add broader value, be ing part of a Ministry that is passionate about lifting equity and excellence in education and keeping the Treaty of Waitangi’s guiding principles core in our work.
