About the function

The Group takes every opportunity to prevent harm through the transparent, consistent, timely and efficient administration, education and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act. Information technology earns trust and confidence by working together, in partnership with other Policing groups, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.
As an Arms agent working within the Waitemata Firearms Team you will take every opportunity to prevent harm through the transparent, consistent, timely and efficient regulation, administration, education and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act. Information technology earns trust and confidence by working together in partnership with other policing groups, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.
Key Accountabilities:
   » Review licence files returned by Vetters and approve applications if applicant is found to be ?Fit and proper’. Alternatively, you will also prepare files for the intention of refusal for further review.
   » The capability to execute vetting interviews within Districts.
   » Maintain relationships with firearms community around Coromandel Peninsula to ensure the licence application and renewal workload can be effectively managed.
   » Individually responsible and accountable: Being accountable for our performance and Assume the responsibility our contribution and development.

You will need to have basic Microsoft Office competencies. Prior firearms knowledge would be advantageous. Training will be provided.
