About our group and team Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with disabilities and additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. One in five children and young people receive some form of learning support all over their early learning and schooling education. The Strategic Design team is focused on turning policy thinking into action, leading service design, workforce development, and monitoring and evaluation processes for new and existing services, in collaboration with colleagues across the Ministry. We also supporting the investment and budget decisions required to make this happen. Our work is challenging and very compensateing and this is a unique opportunity to work at a system level to strengthen the education system’s provision of learning support for disabled children and young people and those with learning support needs. About this function We have a key function working across the Ministry’s national and regional offices and with other agencies. The Senior Adviser will support the Manager Investment and Strategic Design and contributes to a range of work to achieve the prosperous delivery of the team’s work programme. They also lead projects and work closely with Ministry teams and other government agencies to support the translation of high-level policy and strategic intent into service and implementation design. About you To be prosperous in the function, you will be able to work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders. You willhave practice of writing for a range of audiences including operational staff, senior management and Government officials. Additionally, the prosperous applicant will need to demonstrate: » capability to translate policy intent into service and practice design, implementation planning, delivery and evaluation » analysis and problem-solving capability » strong commitment to giving practical effect to Ka Hikitia and te Tiriti o Waitangi to ensure positive and sustainable change for Maori akonga » curiosity, flexibility, and openness in analysing and integrating ideas, information, and differing perspectives; to make fit-for-purpose decisions » the capability to develop effective working relationships and build credibility with customers at all levels, team members and colleagues » excellent writing expertise and communication expertise.
