Ministerial Services is developing a larger pool of practiced staff to provide support services to members of the Executive. The Private Secretary (Advisory/Media) functions will provide cover for both advisory and communications functions within Ministerial offices while staff are on leave as well as surge support in times of high need. These are ?Events-located' functions for the duration of the 53rd Parliament.
The Private Secretary (Advisory/Media) function is responsible for ensuring that all policy and political advice, as well as all media communications from the Minister's office are consistent with the agreed priorities and messages of the Government. If you value the chance to contribute to and support the Executive, this could be the function for you.
You will be involved in keeping the Minister informed in relation to their areas of responsibility, manage and respond to requests for information as set out in the Official Information Act, as well as drafting and publishing media material which communicates clearly the Minister's goals and vision; ensuring Information technology is in line with the Government's overarching communication strategy.
To be prosperous in the function you will have a sound knowledge of Government and public service protocols and processes, strong problem-solving expertise, sound judgement and analysis as well as strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication expertise.
Previous practice in these functions, or on the Parliamentary Complex is highly desirable.
