Senior M?ori Advisor – Climate Innovation

T?taki Auckland endlessis an Auckland Council Controlled Organisation (CCO), and T?maki Makaurau's economic and cultural agency committed to making the region a desirable place to live, work, visit, invest, and do business. T?taki Auckland endlessis leading in the development of a climate innovation hub (Climate Connect Aotearoa) to tackle key issues and opportunities in relation to climate change. The hub is part of the long-term plan's Climate Action Investment package that aims to activate climate innovation through collaboration with partners and key stakeholders for an equitable, climate resilient and low-carbon T?maki Makaurau.
Honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and giving mana and value to Te Ao M?ori, Information technology supports kaitiakitanga and is responsive to the needs of M?ori. As part of this innovation, a new and highly transformative position has been created to lead and drive performance in achieving M?ori results for the newly established Climate Connect Aotearoa.
Te ?hua o Te T?runga – The nature of the position
The Senior M?ori Advisor – Climate Innovation will be primarily responsible for the provision of advice and for the coordination of the M?ori results component of the programme of work, aligning to Te Mahere Aronga, Auckland endlessM?ori results Plan.
A key member of Climate Connect Aotearoa and the wider Climate Innovation and Sustaincapability team, your purpose is to ensure Te Ao M?ori is considered all over the work programme as well as taking a lead engagement function with Mana Whenua, M?t?waka and M?ori businesses to achieve impact for M?ori. This will see you working alongside the team to deliver on the overall development and implementation of the hub, including supporting the general business development of Climate Connect Aotearoa.
Recognising the function of the M?ori economy and Te Ao M?ori is essential to the development of the business model and plan for Climate Connect Aotearoa and will see you will be in a pivotal position to ensure opportunities for M?ori are accessible and inclusive. Responsible for M?ori businesses being strongly supported in the work programmes, you will be leveraging your cultural capcapability and knowledge of wh?nau, hap?, and iwi protocols to support the hub to build strong partnerships with key M?ori stakeholders. The strategic intent will be to ensure that Climate Connect Aotearoa is recognised as a convener for climate innovation across New Zealand. Your facilitation of a climate innovation ecosystem and accountcapability for ensuring recognition is given, will see you are positioning as key player in covering key sector climate challenges.
Supporting and leading the delivery and development of workshops and events, you will take a lead position advising, leading, and engaging with central government, Mana Whenua, M?t?waka and M?ori businesses to achieve impact for M?ori. A highly relationship centric position, you will be socialising the objectives to external stakeholders, engaging widely across the climate innovation ecosystem with professional and ethical judgement in order to seek potential partnerships.
Ng? tino P?kenga/Wheako – Essential expertise/practices for the function
A significant knowledge of M?ori and their interests within T?maki Makaurau ,supported by a strong knowledge of the M?ori business landscape is requisite to application.
expertise, practice, and competencies required for application are to include:
   » Strong knowledge of M?tauranga M?ori and tikanga and the capability to apply this to your practice.
   » capability to engage effectively with Mana Whenua and M?t?waka in T?maki Makaurau.
   » A robust commercial acumen and broad practice in developing and leading projects and programmes.
   » Past expertise in the application and solid knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi in a corporate environment.
   » Proficiency in written and spoken te reo is desirable.
   » Significant practice in developing and facilitating by M?ori, for M?ori programmes and solutions.
   » Strong written and oral communication expertise including well developed facilitation skill set.
   » Proven capability to develop and manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
   » Self-motivated, organised, self-confident, and self-directing, with the capability to work within complex environments
   » Deep knowledge of M?ori culture, values, political and social systems.
   » A robust critical analytic skill set, exceptional capability to think both operationally and strategically and to analyse and recommend solutions.
   » A broad knowledge of the climate change environment is highly desirable.

Leading with a tikanga mindset, you will be drawing on your knowledge of local government and central government's function in climate change. Working alongside the team and contributing to the wider innovation program, will also be essential to your and to work group success.
