The payroll team run a fortnightly payroll made up of between 7,000 - 8,000 permanent, fixed term and casual employees with an average gross pay run in excess of $24 million. You will be responsible for either part of a large portfolio or have entire ownership of a mid-sized portfolio responsible for managing the end to end payroll cycle including payroll finalisation, General Ledger, deductions and other connected processes. Good analytical expertise will enable you to understand and analyse everyday data integrity reports with the capability to interpret complex processing issues as they arise. everyday management of your portfolio and liaising with the Faculty or Service Division you support for resolution of any issues as well as the management of everyday queries to ensure prompt and timely processing. You will also need to use your initiative to mitigate any potential risk to the University. this function will require a flexible and proactive approach in order to be a success. For more information on the function, please view theposition description. this function is a Professional Staff Level E position. expertise and practice Our ideal candidate will tick the following boxes: » Demonstrate practice in dealing with a range of payroll administration tasks » Good expertise of NZ Payroll legislation and familiarity with HR processes » Ensuring compliance with significant legislation including (but not limited to) the Holidays Act, Wages Deduction Act, Employment Relations Act, ACC Act, Immigration Act » Strong analytical expertise in order to interpret data » practice using PeopleSoft or a similar payroll database system is advantageous – we will provide training if you don't have practice in Peoplesoft » Has Initiative and resilience, coupled with high attention to detailfor volume processing » Strong written and verbal communication expertise » Excellent time management and strong organisational expertise » capability to build prosperous relationship with different stakeholders » A team player but also able to work autonomously.
