Job Opportunity: Sector Lead – Pacific and Student Engagement:Judy LyonsJob description:Job Description»Work across New Zealand's university sector»Shape sector thinking and practice for Pacific peoples »Be a key part of the university sector's interface into Government Universities New Zealand – Te P?kai Tara is the peak body for this country's eight universities. Though Information technology is a relatively small organisation of just 16 Wellington-located staff, Information technology coordinates work across the university sector on matters of common interest and Information technology provides a constructive well-considered contribution to thinking and policy shaping in Wellington. Its work is supervisen by a committee made up of the eight vice-chancellors. located in Wellington, this function has two main areas of focus. First, Information technology is focussed on building Pacific success across the university and wider tertiary system with a key focus on delivering the strategic goals of Komiti Pasifika – the Universities New Zealand committee focussed on high quality results for Pacific staff and students. Second, the function leads and coordinates the Universities New Zealand ?Thinking about university?' suite of information products and connected activities to make them available across the secondary school sector. The function will ensure there is good coordination and sharing of Pacific expertise across Government and the university sector by; » Working across a range of university sector committees and working groups. » Representing the university sector to Government agencies and various planning and project working groups. » Maintaining a good network of contacts across industry, Government and the university sector. You will have practice and success in an advisory or advocacy function, with excellent expertise in analysis and creative problem solving. You will be very capable at presenting ideas in person and on paper and will be known for your credibility in working with and advocating for Pacific people. You will have a passion for engaging and working with students. In addition, you will have the following: » Employment over at least 2 years in either the university sector or the public sector. » practice and/or qualifications that will make you a credible interface between the university and Government. » practice in an advisory function with a policy and/or strategy focus. This is an open tenure (permanent) function with some travel requirements (mostly domestic). The function supports flexible working and can be either full time (37.5 hours per week) or part time (30 hours per week) at the discretion of the appointee.
