He angit?tanga: The opportunity Our programme provides carefully selected participants with the opportunityto have a significant career, working to make an impact. After undertaking a two month intensive training period betweenNovember andJanuary, participantsbeginwork as apart-time (0.6 FTTE) teacherina secondary schoolthat serves a low socioeconomic community. Over the two years of the programme participantsreceivein-school mentoring (0.2 FTTE) and studytowards a fully scholarshipped Postgraduate Diplomaof Secondary Teaching. The Teach First NZ programme offers a big challenge that comes with autonomy, challenge, and compensate. You will not only see the real and tangible impact that you can have on your students andthe community, but will also receive a full-time income and a full scholarship towards your Postgraduate Diploma of Secondary Teaching. For many of our participants, the end of the two-year programme marks the next step in their careersas they take on leadership abilities positions in schools andthe wider community (charities, government, business) and where they continue working to addresseducational inequality.
