Are you ready to lead and shape the Wellington region's future? We have a great opportunity for a Team Leader - Climate Change to shape and lead the region's climate change activities.
The function sits within the Strategic and Corporate Planning team - a high-performing team that covers a range of planning functions within the Council.
The Team Leader - Climate Change leads a small team which is responsible for coordinating GWRC's Climate Emergency Response Programme.
The function provides day to day leadership abilities and direction to the Climate Change team, ensuring that they work collectively and cohesively together. The Team Leader will also be directly involved in delivering key elements of the programme of work.

The function works closely with the Executive leadership abilities Team, senior managers and councillors, as well as other territorial authorities and key partners.
To be prosperous in this position you will have:
   » Significant work practice working in a similar field, e.g. climate change mitigation or adaptation, environmental policy, sustainable development
   » A significant post graduate tertiary qualification or equivalent practice in a significant area e.g. climate change or environmental policy
   » practice with people management, or mentoring and supporting others to succeed
   » Programme and project management practice
   »  Excellent knowledge of climate change issues (mitigation and adaption) and sustainable management concepts and practice
   » Sound knowledge of climate science; significant international, central and local government policy; adaptation related issues and adaptive planning techniques; structure of NZ and Wellington region economy; political and market context significant to climate change
   » Exceptional relationship building expertise with a propensity for cultivating trust and rapport with a broad range of stakeholders 
   » Interest in contributing to the decision making process of Greater Wellington Regional Council.
