3D Spatial Designer (Visitor practices):Job description:Job detailsOrganisation Story Inc Closes 5 Jul 2021 Posted on 18 Jun 2021 Region Wellington Work type Full time employment, Fixed Term Work classification Design ShareStory Inc is currently seeking a spatial designer, proficient in 3D design programmes, to join our close-knit, friendly team.We are a visitor practice design company located in Wellington that creates visitor practices all over the world. From creating a ghost story in a Singapore theme park, to turning the Beehive into a giant birthday cake; from telling the story of New Zealand's founding documents, to designing a ?robot ballet? and an alien spaceship escape room - no two projects are ever the same! What will your responsibilities be? The function is for a creative and dynamic 3D Designer who is also process oriented. You will be reporting to our Creative/Project Director, working on a range of visitor practice projects and will be responsible for: » Formulating creative concepts and ideas. » Transforming stories into 3D designs through spatial storytelling. » Telling stories across a wide variety of media - physical, interactive, digital, sensory, etc. » Working closely with the Content Team, Producers, Project Managers, 2D Designers, and occasionally 3D designers from our international partner company. » Developing construction details that comply with the overall design intent and project budget. » Liaising with clients. » Preparing complete and concise design and construction drawings, including checking and coordinating details and dimensions. » continuing review and checking of the documents for accuracy and completeness and responding to requests for information. » Working with suppliers including AV specialists, joiners, VFX producers and interactive designers to specify and integrate tech solutions. » Working with objects, mounters, conservators, preparators. » Working with fabricators, installers, lighting and build contractors to create as-built solutions. » Helping us to improve design management processes and workflow. » Guiding and directing a junior spatial designer. Who are we looking for? The prosperous applicant will: » Have at least five+ years' practice in our industry or closely related ones. » Have a significant qualification. » Have proficient expertise in Rhino, ArchiCAD, Revit or other significant 3D design programmes. » Be proficient using Adobe Suite, SketchUp, VectorWorks, or other significant programmes to produce quality 2d and 3d drawings. » Have a thorough knowledge of materials and competency with complex technical detailing. » Commitment to producing work of high quality and the confidence to work independently and defend their design vision. » Creative spatial consciousness and narrative design capability. » Knowledge of tikanga M?ori. The capability to understand and communicate in te reo M?ori is a bonus. » Have NZ citizenship, residency or a permit to work in NZ. » Be willing to be mainly located in the Wellington region. Who are we not looking for? » A graphic or 2D designer. » A recent graduate. » Somebody with no significant practice. » Someone located outside of Wellington.
