Established in 1888, the Gallery holds a preeminent collection of New Zealand art and a significant collection of international art, and presents a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement and learning practices Auckland Art Gallery Toi o T?makiis looking to appoint a new Gallery Educator, M?tauranga M?ori to further increase consciousness, knowledge and advocacy of m?tauranga M?ori in learning practices offered. this function will lead delivery of programmes in te reo M?ori and English learning practices, with a special focus on engaging kaiako, ?konga, wh?nau, and wider communities. The aim of this function is to also provide leadership abilities in supporting colleagues to bring a M?ori lens to the work of the wider Learning team, and to support liaising with significant stakeholders for the purposes of growing an education offering that reflects a M?ori world view. He k?rero m?u: About you As an practiced educator, you have a track record of developing innovative learning practices grounded in m?tauranga M?ori and working closely with M?ori medium education providers. You have an capability to share your way of working with colleagues and understand the importance of leadership abilities in this area. You are collaborative and engaging and committed to promoting a M?ori world view through creative, curriculum-linked learning practices. You will have: » A bachelor degree in te reo M?ori and/or M?ori studies and/or education, or equivalent work practice » A post-graduate qualification in Education, or equivalent work practice » Minimum of two years' recent school teaching practice in a M?ori-medium context, preferably with current NZ teacher registration » An knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and biculturalism as they relate to the Gallery and its programmes » Strong knowledge of m?tauranga M?ori art and demonstrated practice working with M?ori learners » Confident in te reo M?ori me ?na tikanga » Strong interpersonal and stakeholder relationship expertise » Sound knowledge and practice in implementing learning programmes » practice developing strategic approaches to education programmes » practice with and interest in young people » Passionate and knowledgeable about art and art histories Ng? ?huatanga kei a m?tou: What we offer If you are looking for an opportunity to use your knowledge and practice to positively impact the Gallery in an exciting period of our development, then look no further.
