The Ministry of Education is seeking expression interest from suitably practiced candidates to be an Independent Adviser for the New Appointments National Panel (NANP). The New Appointments National Panel of independent education advisers led and managed by a Chair is contracted by the Ministry of Education. This panel supports K?hui Ako by providing assurance that candidates have met the significant national criteria for the appointment of K?hui Ako functions. This panel also advises boards of trustees of eligible schools seeking to offer the Principal Recruitment Allowance by providing assurance that candidates have met the significant national criteria. The Ministry of Education is now seeking up to three independent advisers for the NANP. We welcome applications from candidates who want to be considered for this vital function. As an independent adviser you will join K?hui Ako selection panels and/or be asked to work with school boards with significant challenges approved by the Secretary for Education to offer a Principal Recruitment Allowance. You will be tasked with affirming that prosperous candidates for the K?hui Ako functions and allowances and Principal Recruitment Allowances have met the significant criteria for the function. Candidates are expected to have credibility and practice in the New Zealand education sector. Candidates must also demonstrate a number of the following attributes: » have demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching, including collaborative practices » have demonstrated knowledge of teacher leadership abilities, professional learning and appraisal » have knowledge and proven practice of using standards/criteria (and other valued results) to evaluate professional practice and developing and interrogating evidence that support those evaluations » have demonstrated expertise and knowledge as educational practitioners (principals/teachers/teacher educators) » have prosperous proven practice lifting results for children and young people, in particular M?ori, Pasifika, students with special education needs and those from low socio-economic backgrounds. Also, panel members: » should understand the centrality of the tamaiti, the value of involving wh?nau, and the importance of language, culture and identity » may also be fluent in te reo M?ori and conversant with tikanga in te ao M?ori (i.e. mana reo and mana tikanga) – to enable them to work in immersion settings: for example, kura kaupapa wharekura, kura M?ori ?-iwi, kura motuhake, and M?ori immersion/bilingual units » should have clear communication expertise, adjusted to suit audience, and can articulate evidence-located assessment and evaluation judgments » should work collaboratively and positively and alongside a range of stakeholders » to support Principal Recruitment Allowance appointments in particular, will have practice of change management especially what is required for leadership abilities to ?turn around’ a challenging school.
