Job Opportunity: Museum Educator:Job description:Job detailsOrganisation National Museum of the Royal New Zealand Navy Closes 23 Jan 2023 Posted on 9 Jan 2023 Region Auckland Work type Full time employment, Fixed Term Work classification Culture & Heritage, Education & Development ShareThe Navy Museum is seeking two new Educators to join our existing Educator, in order to progress our Learning and Education Strategy. These new positions are for full time employment for 24 months. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to use their creative expertise, education expertise, and museum practice to create a new and engaging schools portfolio. During this 24-month fixed term engagement, theEducator will work in a collaborative team to grow the Navy Museum's schools portfolio from the ground up, through the development of learning practices that are significant to schools and spark inspiration in learners. Once the new programmes have been created, the Educator will deliver the programmes and evaluate their success. The Educator will also support the existing the Learning and Education programme, including delivering heritage sessions to Navy personnel, developing and delivering holiday programmes and other family focussed community engagement initiatives, and supporting the Kids Create programme. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing Learning and Education Department. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: The Educator works independently and with others in the Navy Museum Learning and Education Team to: ·Using Navy stories and the Navy Museum collections, develop inspiring and engaging programmes for school learners, onsite and offsite ·Consider the needs and motivations of today's school learners in the development of the programmes ·Ensure the new learning programmes honour the biculturalism of Aotearoa New Zealand and upholds the principals of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The Treaty of Waitangi ·Ensure the new learning programmes align with the New Zealand curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa ·Ensure the new programmes reflect contemporary approaches to museum education ·Deliver new learning programmes to school audiences, onsite and offsite ·Deliver training programmes responsive to the needs of Navy and NZDF ·Develop and manage school holiday activites for children and their caregivers ·Develop and deliver education programmes responsive to the needs of the public and Navy Museum key communities, including outreach and community groups For a full position description or to discuss this function further, Contact Us by Charis Boos,charis.boos@nzdf.mil.nz,021877693 Applications close 23 January 2023 at 11:59 p.m. How to submit the application: Send cover letter and CV to charis.boos@nzdf.mil.nz Skills:
