Full time (1 FTE) plus on-call tasks, fixed term position. The Gastroenterology Department at Palmerston North Hospital, New Zealand, serves the university town of Palmerston North, and the Manawatu district. We provide quality outpatient gastroscopy and colonoscopy, ERCP, liver elastography, outpatient clinical care, inpatient gastroenterology care and bowel cancer screening services to the 160,000 people in our district. We are affiliated to the University of Otago, have a training gastroenterology registrar in our department, and have a research relationship with Massey University. This environment provides excellent opportunity for both teaching and research. This position is located at Palmerston North Hospital, a 350 bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatu, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialities with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The collegial relationships between departments are strong and consultation with other specialists is easy, either formally with multidisciplinary meetings or informally as required. There is an active postgraduate medical society and there are excellent clinical library facilities. Palmerston North is a great place to live having a strong musical and cultural community, excellent schooling, and terrific sporting opportunities. We are lucky to have New Zealand's Ruahine and Tararua forest parks, Himitangi and Foxton beaches and alpine Mount Ruapehu all within 2 hours of our city.
