The National Emergency Management Agency
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership abilities to New Zealand’s distributed emergency management system. NEMA’s primary focus is on the performance and capcapability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. We are going through an exciting phase of growth and there will be more opportunities with NEMA over the coming months.

function Purpose
this function will be instrumental in improving the results of our community resilience planning for M?ori.
this function requires Somebody with broad networks within iwi, hap?, M?ori organisations and M?ori communities. Te Ao M?ori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi skills will be essential in creating tailored guidelines, doctrine and advocating quality practice for M?ori and iwi within emergency management.
Skills & practice
   » Te manawa M?ori – A background in supporting M?ori community engagement and development
   » Te kairangi – excellence in leadership abilities and a desire to be influential, including significant professional qualification and practice
   » Te t?hono ki te iwi – An innate knowledge of people, with well-developed networks and relationships within the community.
   » practice in consulting and engaging M?ori whanau, hapu, iwi and other M?ori stakeholders
   » Proficient in tikanga M?ori, kaupapa M?ori, principals and approaches
   » A track record in connecting service delivery, community consultation, planning and networking to make positive connections.
   » Conceptual thinker who can translate our aspirations for M?ori into quantifiable actions
   » capability to build strategic and long-lasting relationships which value diverse communities and perspectives.

   » Demonstrated practice influencing senior leaders to adopt new ways of working with M?ori underpinned by the Principles of Te Tiriti to build credibility and trust.
   » Be motivated by a challenge, bring a positive, flexible approach to work with a strong “can-do” attitude
