Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.
This is a senior system leader function, located in the leadership abilities Diversity and Inclusion group. The group has an ambitious work programme, working alongside public service leaders and partner agencies, which requires us to take a measured and deliberate approach to focus on the things that matter most, and enables us to draw on and share best practice and capcapability across the system.
The Director, Diversity and Inclusion provides strategic leadership abilities and delivers a system-wide work programme to support Public Service chief executives to develop an inclusive and diverse Public Service that reflects the communities we serve. They will work in partnership with chief executives, senior leaders, and key stakeholders across the system and within the Commission to ensure we have an integrated and sustainable approach to creating a diverse and inclusive public service
This includes supporting a system wide plan for diversifying leadership abilities and growing a diverse leadership abilities pipeline, that uses the best available evidence to achieve significant step change, as well as a programme of work to support the implementation and evolution of Papa Pounamu (including the support of cross agency Employee Led Networks).
The function has management responsibility for a team with skills and credibility to influence system-wide change.

   » Is ready to take on a senior system leadership abilities function, and who is confident leading system change
   » Can demonstrate thought leadership abilities at a system level and facilitate strategic thinking in others
   » Can develop strong and effective relationships with chief executives, senior leaders, and a wide variety of stakeholders
   » Who is committed to, and can demonstrate how they support and value, diversity in the public service
   » Has a track record of delivering cross cutting work programmes
   » Understands the wider Public Service context and is able to apply this to their programme of work

This position usually pays between $154,960 to $203,385, depending on skills and practice.
