Looking to add another fun and focussed guide to our crew for the summer season!
Encounter Kaikoura, is a small passionate eco tourism business on the beautiful East coast of the South Island. We are privileged to share Kaikoura and it's marine and pelagic life with our guests.
Our Sea Crew have a passion for the ocean and everything in it! They are confident in managing the delicate balance between risk management and adventure tourism; responsible for both the safety and the satisfaction of our guests.

Our activity is a bucket list item for most of our guests and our Dolphin Tour Guides are charged with ensuring every customer has the best practice possible!
Other Tour Guide responsibilities range from sharing expertise and information through PA tour commentary, to caring for sea sick passengers. Time is spent engaged with our diverse range of guests both individually and in groups.  We have great vessels and quality gear, and our crew take pride in managing the cleanliness and presentation of all our operating areas and equipment.
Our crew work at sea when trips are running and in the current climate undertake a variety of other tasks across the business as required.  There is the opportunity to supplement guiding hours with work in the Customer Service, Housekeeping and Cafe Teams.  Flexibility, adaptcapability and previous practice in similar functions is welcome.
If you care about customer practice and the marine environment and are confident managing risk with a 'can do' attitude this is the right function for you.
Seeking candidates with previous practice in similar functions, who are clear and confident communicators with an engaging nature.  Warm and friendly with lots of of empathy, patience and resilience.  A good level of physical fitness and stamina is important as is a teamwork and professionalism.
A tertiary qualification in marine science is also an advantage but is not required and an NZ Advanced or Comprehensive First Aid Certificate is required of prosperous candidates on appointment.
Whilst we are currently advertising for a seasonal position, there may also be long term permanent opportunity for the right applicant who would like to commit to more than the summer!
