About our group The Secondary Tertiary Group sits within Early Learning and Student Achievement (ELSA) and covers the transition from senior secondary through to tertiary and employment. ELSA works to make learning and teaching significant, real and valued. We deliver and maintain critical services for the education sector to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce and society. ELSA performs a crucial function working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions. The Secondary Tertiary Group is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including the continuing NCEA Review and preparing for the Review of Achievement Standards) and secondary-tertiary pathways and transitions. Project Adviser function The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum, and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, the secondary-tertiary interface. The Project Advisor provides high quality project coordination, monitoring and evaluation. This includes the development of key milestones, monitoring progress against them, risk analysis, resourcing requirements, and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The function ensures appropriate processes, advice and implementation plans are developed to support equity and excellent results across the Ministry. About the person We are seeking for someone who is thoughtful, agile and adept at handling ambiguity and complexity. Our ideal candidate will take pride in producing high quality work and will be comfortable working independently to achieve defined objectives. The person will be sensitive to cultural values and have a good knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. They will have sharp interpersonal expertise, superior writing expertise, and will be comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders and representing the Ministry. this function will be a good developmental opportunity for someone who has project co-ordinator practice, and wishes to progress to a project management function. practice and qualifications Candidates will have knowledge and/or practice in the following: » Actively plan, manage and report against planned milestones » Within the work area, identify work priorities within projects, and the connected risks and opportunities » Accurately scope out the length and difficulty of tasks and projects and identify resource requirements Are you ready to make a difference?
