   » Exciting opportunity to work as part of the Turnbull Library's Curatorial Team on cross team projects with analogue, digitised and born-digital archival and special collections in various formats.

We have an excellent opportunity for an practiced cultural heritage professional to join the Alexander Turnbull Library's Curatorial Services Team. In this function you will report to the Curator Contemporary Voices and Archives and work collaboratively with staff across the Turnbull Library and the National Library to ensure the smooth functioning of our curatorial functions, including donor relationships, acquisitions workflows, appraisal, and special projects to improve collections management and access to and use of the Library's collections. In this function you will work as a key contributor to the Curatorial Team, assisting with donor and researcher correspondence, appraisal and accessioning of new and backlog collections, identifying collections for digitisation, archival processing, and other key Library projects.
To be prosperous in the function you will have:
   » The talent to communicate effectively with wide-ranging audiences and communities.
   » practice working with cultural heritage collections in a Library, Archives or similar organisation and demonstrated knowledge of the balance between ?protecting privacy and copyright' and ?facilitating access to collections'.
   » Demonstrated knowledge of and engagement with archival theories and principles, especially strong appraisal, accessioning, as well as arrangement and description practice and knowledge.
   » capability to work or quickly lgain to work across archival formats, particularly manuscripts, archives, photographs, and oral history on wider cross-Library projects.
   » practice of working with donors and an capability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with donors and dealers, your team, the wider business, and documentary heritage sector colleagues
The Alexander Turnbull Library is part of the National Library of New Zealand and sits within the Information and Knowledge Services branch, the Department's epicentre of information management, culture and heritage.
