This position would be appropriate for an practiced or a newly qualified specialist.This is a new position and is additional to two practiced Respiratory Physicians. The Respiratory team also includes nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, sleep and respiratory laboratory technicians/physiologists, and respiratory physiotherapists. The service provides comprehensive specialist outpatient and inpatient respiratory services, and primary health care support. Supporting services on site include radiology, nuclear medicine, radiation and medical oncology, and pathology laboratory. Cardiothoracic surgical services are provided in Wellington as the tertiary. The position involves the provision of general respiratory inpatient and outpatient services including fibreoptic bronchoscopy, and reporting on sleep studies and respiratory lung function tests. expertise and capability to manage cystic fibrosis patients and any practice in the supervision of respiratory function laboratory is desirable. This position also includes participation in the general medicine call roster and the provision of limited holiday cover for general medicine. candidates must be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand with a qualification in Respiratory Medicine that is recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as appropriate for Vocational Registration in New Zealand. candidates must also have demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching expertise and the capability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.
