Job Opportunity: Speech Language Therapist:MinEducationJob description:Job Description» Permanent, full-time and part-time, fixed-term, full-time and part-time positions located in our Christchurch office availableAbout this function Using your specialist speech language therapy skills and practice you will help maximise learning and promote social inclusion for children and young people with learning support needs. » Make a real difference in children and young people’s lives » Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals About you The prosperous applicant will be able to demonstrate the following: » The prosperous applicant will be able to work effectively across both school and early childhood sectors » The prosperous applicant will have a working knowledge of our Learning Support Delivery Model » Responsibilities will include working with children and young people, their parents, caregivers, wh?nau, educators and other Learning Support personnel in delivering speech and language services » Excellent teaming, interpersonal and communication skills are essential as is an capability to work in a culturally sensitive manner » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential as is a strong knowledge of Ka Hikitia Ka H?paitia » Skills in working with children with complex learning/communication needs and knowledge of the early childhood and/or school curriculum are an advantage » Competence in Te Reo M?ori me ona tikanga and be able to weave this skills into the work of Learning Support as a speech language therapist » practice and the capability to work effectively across and in M?ori Medium settings (e.g., both early childhood and Kura) » A full current driver’s licence is essential » Overseas candidates should have their qualifications approved by New Zealand Speech-Language Therapy Association (NZSTA) in order to determine that they are appropriate for working within New Zealand Please note that this function is affected by the COVID-19 Public Health (Vaccinations) Order.
