About our group and team Te Pae Aronui is the Ministry’s operational and integration group. We work closely with our Ministry, sector and government agency colleagues to ensure early childhood services, schools, kura and communities have the support they need to achieve the best education results for all children and young people. The Education Network team is responsible for making sure the school network is in the best shape and equipped to offer the best quality of education for every New Zealander. Our national and regional staff keep an eye on where the network needs to move and adapt to meet the growing needs of ?konga/learners and their whanau. About this function The Planning and Strategy Manager will manage a small team of National Office planners and develop a collaborative “communities of practice’ model to support network support in the regions to improve, enhance and develop network planning, modelling and forecasting. This will include developing, standardising and aligning network plans across the regions so Information technology is highly visible, iterative and evidence located for infrastructure planning and decision making. About you You will bring to the function significant practice in a strategic leadership abilities function where you have implemented strategic and tactical planning and implemented new operating models and ways of working. You will have excellent communication expertise both written and verbal and be a key influencer, able to gain buy-in and build credibility quickly. You will also offer the following: » significant tertiary qualification in a significant field such as planning, resource management (post-graduate preferred) and/or significant practice in related disciplines. Ideally some practice working in a Government agency and a sound knowledge of the machinery of government, public sector delivery structures and systems » Planning practice in a similar planning environment » capability to identify and manage strategic linkages with internal and external initiatives » Excellent analysis and problem solving capability » Adapts a holistic approach to problem solving which relates to the ‘bigger picture’ » Proven practice of effectively leading transformational organisational and business change » Knowledge of public sector procurement and contract management processes » Advanced influencing, relationship management and stakeholder engagement expertise » knowledge of best practice service delivery in the public sector » knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry Are you ready to make a difference?
