The Organisation

The Low Volume Vehicle Technical Association (Inc) is an independent national co-regulatory body responsible for superviseing the safe modification and building of motor vehicles in New Zealand. Their mission is to enable New Zealanders to continue to modify and build motor vehicles within a practically oriented safe regulatory environment.
Operating within a complex national regulatory landscape, LVVTA is recognised for its proprietary ?specialist certification system, including technical standards and operational processes' which is accepted to be amongst the best in the world as a national certification system. This has been crafted over time by this professional team who ?live and breathe' technical innovation, best-practice engineering, keeping ?kiwi ingenuity' alive, and motor vehicle safety. This system is now recognised as a ?game changer' by the NZ government regulatory environment.
LVVTA is on an exciting growth and change journey, and by working closely with government agencies and industry associations, has earned the position of being at the heart of certification change. As a result, LVVTA is now mandated to provide specialist technical and operational support to dramatically transform and improve other specialist certification systems, in particular the national certification system for ensuring that vehicles which have been damaged (including collision, flood, and corrosion) are correctly and safely repaired.
The function:
You will play a crucial senior function in leading and managing the team of technical experts and operational staff. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations by ensuring compliance, optimising workflows, prioritising project delivery, engaging stakeholders, driving process improvement, and establishing a strong, cohesive team culture located on core values.
Your focus is on staff leadership abilities, to lead, motivate, and develop the team of technical experts, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and professional growth by fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture, promoting expertise sharing and innovation to assist with complex work solutions, whilst promoting quality, safety, and continuous learning. You will work closely with the CEO to manage business change initiatives, all the while ensuring a focus on delivering operational excellence.
To be effective in this new function you will need practice with contract management, be able to take the lead in investigations and complaint management, have the capability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and most importantly create productivity in this dynamic environment where no two days are the same!
About You:
You may have a tertiary qualification in automotive technology, mechanical engineering, collision repair, or commerce, but Information technology is essential that you have proven management competencies and practice (at least 10 years in operations), especially in team leadership abilities, and staff management in an operational delivery function. Equally important are your project management skills, strong stakeholder relationships management, and excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the capability to engage and influence diverse audiences, and to drive change and implement practical solutions. Technical expertise and skills in automotive engineering, collision repair, or vehicle modification work would be beneficial, but equally, your expertise may have come via pursuing your own motorsport dream or by being a classic or muscle car, or motorcycle enthusiast.
Bring your love of cars and positive mindset, underpinned by your focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement, and join a team of enthusiastic individuals as the Operations Manager, at the forefront of industry change.
The Why:
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a talented and empowered team, at an exciting time, within the regulatory certification space.
