The Engagement team is part of the broader Customer practice and Engagement Division, which draws together the many aspects of student support and engagement across the organisation in order to achieve an integrated and collaborative institutional response to all prospective, current and past students. Teams work collaboratively across the Division and institution to enhance the overall student practice, student wellbeing and academic and vocational success. Information technology is the responsibility of the Division to facilitate specialist interventions to support target groups in line with the Ara strategic goals and key Government targets, including M?ori, Pasifika, Youth (under 25 years), International and refugee and migrant students. The function We are seeking for someone to join the team as ‘Te Kaiwhakauru – Youth and Community.’ You will be the connection between Ara and prospective students, particularly rangatahi, playing a key part in promoting and delivering the full Ara practice through a range of innovative direct engagement activities all over New Zealand. Your focus will be on meeting organisational recruitment targets with a focus on increasing M?ori participation. To do this you will work with rangatahi in kura, clubs, organisations and youth agencies to inform them about Ara and the wide variety of study options and support services available to them. You will ensure your targeted recruitment activity is aligned to tikanga M?ori protocols. In this function you will share your passion for education, presenting, inspiring and motivating others. A connection and expertise of Ara is desirable and you will demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering the vision and values of Ara. Ideally you will be fluent in Te Reo M?ori and have strong networks and connections with kaiako, groups, organisations and others who work closely with young M?ori. You will need to be available for travel outside Christchurch for specific periods of time during the year and be able to work some evenings and weekends to attend events and expos. expertise/practice: » Tertiary level qualification or equivalent practice » Fluency in Te Reo M?ori and practice working with rangatahi preferred » Strong presentations expertise » An emphasis on customer service » A ‘can and will do’ attitude » Enthusiastic about promoting our programmes » Excellent organisational and time management expertise » Work well in a team and at times under pressure You will also have a friendly, positive and engaging approach, and thrive in a busy function within a proactive and dynamic team.
