The Government wishes to ensure that New Zealand has world-class research capcapability in place to respond to infectious disease threats into the future. As such an Infectious Disease Research Platform is being established. The aims of the platform are: » To build New Zealand’s research capcapability for greater strength and scale » To ensure New Zealand is better prepared for known and emerging infectious disease threats, including future pandemics » To meet our obligations under Te Tiriti and the aims of Pae Ora (healthy futures for M?ori) » Prioritise research to address health inequities » To link with international research You will be responsible for the development and management of news media relationships and providing communications and engagement with a wide variety of stakeholder and end user organisations. Responsibilities include: » Overall management of Infectious Disease Research platform (IDRP) social media and communications presence. » Providing advice to the Co-Directors, Programme Manager, and Stakeholder Engagement Manager on IDRP’s communications and strategic engagement. » Take responsibility for the development and management of the IDRP brand. » Advise members of IDRP on their communications activities and continually review to ensure effective and efficient tow-way communications. K? p?keka me k? wheako – expertise and practice To be prosperous in this function you should be the type of person with practice producing communications strategies and implementing them prosperously within an organisation. Ideally you will a solid knowledge of Te Ao M?ori and tikanga as Information technology relates to health research and practise with literacy in te Tiriti o Waitangi, M?ori health advancement guidelines and Vision M?tauranga policy. Other useful expertise or practices you will call upon in the function include: » practice in prosperous news media management and/or public relations, handling complex, controversial or sensitive topics. » capability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, to a range of audiences. P?roko – Further details This is a fixed-term, part-time position (0.5FTE) until 2025. We are open to where this function will be physically located as Information technology will involve travel to meet with stakeholders and researchers as you participate in hui around New Zealand.
