The Team Leader leads their small regionally-focused team to provide high quality support to and review of capital investment cases, identification of future capital investment needs and continuous improvement in capital investment performance.

The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and discapability system in New Zealand. We are responsible for providing active stewardship and leadership abilities across the nation’s health and discapability system. We ensure the system provides people with the highest levels of care, regardless of who they are or where they live.
Within the Ministry of Health we are establishing a Health Infrastructure Unit to help support and guide health capital strategy and management over the next decade. This exciting new area has responsibility for oversight of District Health Board capital business cases, service planning and asset management, as well as the delivery of some of the key capital redevelopments (including new hospitals) across the country. This is challenging and compensateing work to deliver important health infrastructure projects. Health infrastructure has a vital function in ensuring New Zealanders have access to high quality health services.
We are now looking for practiced Investment Strategy – Team Leaders to lead key work streams relating to capital investment. These are critical function to ensure that we are meeting our capital and infrastructure objectives and involves working across central agencies and District Health Boards.
To be prosperous, you will need the following qualities:
   » practice in capital investment management, better business cases, multi-criteria decision analysis and portfolio management
   » An capability to create and maintain positive stakeholder engagement
   » practice with the machinery of government
   » significant technical/professional qualification and/or equivalent practice
   » practice managing a team’s capcapability and capacity to deliver on current and future work priorities, and coaching and mentoring staff
   » capability to actively manage critical people and develop successors for future functions
   » Actively models and promotes change fitness and the capability to navigate complexity and change
